It's been a terrible week for Blackburn.

The BBC are a typical nationalised industry. Corrupt useless leaders and spend far more than any commercially based organisation would to achieve the same result.
As for 73 years old Tony Blackburn, he should have been sacked back in the 70's when he was bleating on about his wife leaving him. Tessa Wyatt wasn't it? It was sickening listening to him then and if the BBC was commercial Blackburn would have been moved on years ago.
The fact that a 73 years old DJ is still employed is just an example of why the BBC is useless. There is nothing wrong with employing older broadcasters but a commercial company would not issue long contracts to 73 year olds so they can sue when you do want to get them out.....

People forget that this isn't just a 70s/80s cover-up - this was being denied by the BBC as recently as 2012.
The idea that any senior managers or top officials had no idea what was going on under their noses for 30 years is quite unbelievable.

Interesting that the BBC is trying to create some firewall and say people lower down might have heard or seen things but no one further up knew NUFFINK. Lord HALL squirmed a bit when it was put to him that he started at a lower level ( obviously) & moved up. Why didn't he know anything?
Liz Kershaw was on the radio saying she joined Radio 1 in 1987 and was only the 4th woman who'd ever broadcast alongside the boys club. Was groped on air by a fellow dj and when she complained to her boss was told .... What's wrong Liz ? Don't you like it? Are you a lesbian?

BBC being seen to do something when for decades they ignored and covered up the systematic abuse that Savill dished out.
they are a fucking disgrace and the sooner it is scrapped and made to feel market pressures the better.

One word.
Scapegoat !
The BBC are definitely portioning off the blame, yet refusing to have a good look at their own complicity in these events.

Did he take Arnold with him? Looks like he's been hung out to dry though. As someone who heard him kick off R1 all those decades ago, his departure's 49 years too late. Fuck him, the nauseating creep.

I said victims in " because I don't believe half the stuff that comes out. I don't remember what I did last weekend let alone what I did 30/40 years ago.

Well it sounds to me like he has told the truth & the BBC don't like it as it doesn't fit in with a cover up? If so, good on him for being honest in his interview with the police.

BBC News at 6, "Saville was a personal friend of Margaret Thatcher and was even a house guest at Christmas".
Dirty, rotten, stinking fucking people.

Don't be daft. I had no evidence whatsoever and it was just appalling gossip.
Those at the BBC who worked with Saville must have known something more definite. The fact the regime has now sacked Blackburn for a differing memory about an alleged interview is appalling, IMO. Unless they can provide evidence that he, like they, are liars.

The media will never come out and say something unless they have absolute evidence or think they'll make more money just spouting it.
Everybody might have been aware of it but clearly no one had any evidence.

This whole thing is preposterous.
I started work in media in 1990 (never for the BBC, by the way) and almost immediately heard that Saville was a paedo and a necrophiliac.
I wasn't of the age or had the evidence to say anything, of course. But how the BBC hierarchy did nothing is criminal. And they now sack someone whose interview accounts differ from theirs over 25 years on. Rancid.
